The Herald is now published by News Corp. The Herald has long been a bastion of opinion on a variety of topics, from politics and social issues to news and current affairs.
But in an interview with IGN, editor-in-chief Dan O’Brien revealed some of the news they may be heading for next year.
“We have been looking at what will be a very interesting year,” he said.
He was referring to a range of topics including the next edition of the Herald of Tasmania, the publication of the Australian newspaper in Australia and the news of the future of The Herald’s local editions.
“[We] also have a big decision coming up about the publication [of The Herald in the UK],” O’Briens said.
“And what we have been considering is a different type of publication in the US.
We have a lot of work ahead of us.”
O’Brien said the announcement of the UK editions would be “in a matter of weeks”.
“That will be the first one,” he explained.
“We are really focused on getting a British edition out to the readers of The Australian, The Herald and The Times.”
It will be about the editorial decisions we make about those, so it won’t be too long.””
We will also have some other announcements on the news front,” he added.”
One of the things that we are very proud of is that we have done something like the best job in the history of the company of delivering the newspaper across all the different regions.
“In the US, we’ve done an unbelievable job with the paper in the New York area and the Pacific Northwest and the Gulf Coast.
That’s where the news comes from, and that’s where it’s going to come from here.”
