NHC has made headlines before.
In December 2014, it flew past the Sun, a record for an orbiting object.
The NHC was the first spacecraft to observe Pluto.
But it also made headlines over its development.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which built the spacecraft, said it was “the most advanced spacecraft ever built” and would launch in 2024.
It would carry a new generation of imaging instruments and send back data on planetary atmospheres.
In 2018, the agency announced a new mission called New Horizons, which was the same year it released its first image of Pluto.
